Pollo is the word for cooked chicken in Spanish. For the live ones, it's Gallo (Guy-o) for rooster and Gallina (rhymes with hyena) for hen :)

I don't speak Tlingit. Close as I can get phonetically is:

    K(h) a' a x'

So i'm thinking it would be like 2 syllables. Caw (like a crow sound) and axe, but I'm not 100% sure.

FYI- Tlingit is a Native Alaskan tribe in SE Alaska.

I was so surprised to see Tlingit mentioned on BYC! I'm 1/4 Tlingit, and I have no idea how to explain the pronunciation. Closest I can get, start by imitating a crow coughing up a hair ball. I have to ask my family how to pronounce it. Thanks, Imp!

In Hungarian it's csirke - pronounced cheer-ka (sort of)...

Not sure about rooster. I think it's kakas - ko-kosh.
