how to sex buff silkies--now with pics------

    i got a pair of buff silkies today... one is lighter than the other. when the lighter one sees my other roo he flair up and trys to attack the other roo but i havent seen him mate with the other hen or anything...does anyone know how to sex them... i think they are about 8 months - a year

    Male silkies get streamers off the backs of their crests and neck, and their combs are larger. In most cases you shold be able to tell by 8 months to a year, but a few surprise you even longer.

    how about this one?? can you tell if he is a boy or girl? name "do-do" and he is around 10 weeks old-I can see waddles for sure-

    Looks more like a boy, but I'm not positive--check back in a couple or three weeks.

    Lack of pencilling throughout his plumage--see how his breast feathers are mostly solid coloured? Notice how his colouring is zoned to head, hackles, tail, shoulders rather than evenly throughout? Those are the male pattern areas.
