My little Silkie bantam hen Moonbeam is sitting on plastic eggs. We took her real ones away as they aren't fertile anyway. I would really like her to run around like everyone else.
Do you know how to stop her being broody?

First thing to do is to remove all egglike objects from under her. I'm currently battling a broody with ice packs under the nest, but I think I'll have to construct a broody box soon. It's basically a little cage, with a mesh floor, no bedding, the point is to maximize airflow under the hen to cool her down. It needs to be placed in a place with light, as dark spots are where they prefer to nest. A few days in solitary should make her change her mind.
