How to wean a baby dove off of baby bird formula?

Hi
My baby dove is 1 month and 2 weeks+ old.
Is it too early for him to wean or?
I throw a couple of seeds in front of him and he pecks them and has it in his beak either tasting or figuring out what to do it. Eventually he just pelts it somewhere and run back to my hand so I could give him the formula?
Is it just a matter of time that he'll just start eating on his own or I'm supposed to stop giving him the formula?

You need to do it gradually. There are no hard fast rules for when they have to stop. They will still ask for it and will wean themselves.

I offer my handraised squabs chick starter for chickens. It comes in a fine crumble. They tend to tear right into that. Later you can switch (gradually) to seeds if you want. Another thing you can do is put another bird in with him, to show him what to do. And you will have to dunk his face in the water a few times.
