Hello Everyone
My Twin daughter's and I have just started raising chickens. At the moment we have 8 (2 Roosters) We aren't able to keep the Roosters per our city. We have already found them a great home with my daughters boyfriend's Mom who has a ranch. We just brought a new chicken into the flock and my dog keeps barking at it and I don't know why. Any suggestions on how to stop her would be fantastic. Our Coop is big enough for 10 chickens and i recently built the a 4'X8'X6' run. Hope to hear from you all soon.
My daughter thinks one of the chickens (2 month old) might have a respiratory infection. Her eyes are watery and red but she isn't coughing. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do? THANK YOU

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
When you write that your coop is big enough for 10 chickens I get the suspicion that you have a prefab, in which case you do not have room for 10 chickens. And your run is certainly not large enough for 10 chickens. You need 4 sq ft of floor space in the coop plus one linear foot of roost space per bird. You also need approximately one square foot of permanently open ventilation per bird in the coop. You need to add at least an additional 12 to 15 sq ft per bird in the run for adequate space.
As for the bird with the red watery eyes you may want to start a new thread in the ER Forum with pictures of the bird for assistance with her.
Good luck!
