Will a sever dip in humidity for a short period of time effect the hatch?? The air is so dry in the room with the incubator. I accidently let the water run out and found it at 2% the next morning. (Checked it at 8pm and it was 35%).

    Thoughts??

Hope it doesn't mess anything up!

I have never seen 2% humidity but that shouldnt hurt if only for 12 hours.

I have never seen it that low, either, but I do know it is dry and the heat is on.... my sinuses might agree! It might just be a fluke... hoping a short period of very low humidity will have no ill effects!

I really dont want to hyjackyour thread here, but my eggs are in lockdown, and I found the humidity % at 16, I put it up to 64% now, but im worried they are shrink wraped. They were like that for about 4 hours.

You guys should try dry incubation method. Waaaaaay less stress and very successful hatches. 2% humidity sounds like an incorrect reading and I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Quote:Shrink wrapped means that when the egg is in lockdown and the chick is coming out the shell membrane dries out and while it dries it shrinks hence the name " shrink wrapped" The cause is often too low humidity and high temperature.
