My chicken started walking funny and really slow. She has this hump on her lower back. What can I do and should I take her to the vet?

If that is a Buff Orpington that is the way they look. I always refer to that hump of feathers as her bustle. She may have other issues making her walk slow and funny though. Can you be more specific? Have you checked out her feet for any sores or lumps or bumps?

Hi @Cherlyn57 :frow Welcome To BYC

How old is your hen?
What type of food/treats do you feed?
Photos of her poop?
Can you upload a video of her movements to youtube, then provide us a link?
When was the last time she laid an egg?

Feel of her lower back, is that just feathers or do you notice any obvious swelling of the skin? Look at her oil gland, is that infected?

With your description of her walking funny and really slow - feel of her abdomen, below the vent and between her legs - do you notice any swelling/bloat or a feeling of fluid there?

Sorry for all the questions, the more information we have, the better we can help you with suggestions.
