➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

You poor thing.
We were supposed to be getting some of that nasty weather but we lucked out down here.
:ya
I’m running on an hour and a half of sleep :barnie I’m so tired! It rained so much here that we have a makeshift pond NEXT to our completely filled pond! I’m just glad that there was no significant damage after the 75+ winds here

You need more ducks!

Terrible pictures but I was trying not to scare them to get better shots so I worked with what I had lol but we just had 4 little visitors. :D

Also ignore the filth on that window, it’s in the basement and way up high, ground level, behind the tv, and tiny, and never gets opened/used anyway, so we don’t clean it  hard to reach anyhow lol

Tornado sirens, no power.. it was a fun long morning.
Yep, our power went out at 4:30 and didn't come back on until 11:30. Fortunately we have a generator so I could still have my coffee.

My duck pen did not fair so well. I had temporarily moved it to get the ducks down into the water and hadn't decided where I was going to keep it so did not anchor. Ooops.

Edit to add, the ducks are fine, they had quit using the pen and it was just sitting down there.

Ours came back on at 8 but it had been out since 3. I woke up to the sirens, bolted out of my room screaming for Ruger to come with me to the only safe room we have in my parents closet but as I passed through the kitchen I looked outside and saw the horses by the backyard fence. My heart sank.

Thank God everyone was okay, and no damage occurred. Damage to trees is fine, no damage to the coops or animals is all I wanted. I’m glad your ducks were okay!

I bet that sounds scary.
We don't have sirens here.

That’s terrifying. I’ve always heard sirens so it’s natural to me, I can’t imagine not having any. How do you know if tornadoes are around??
I think we have only had to worry about tornados during hurricanes and only a couple times.
I guess they are not common enough here for sirens.
I have no idea.

Okay so we have a confusing situation regarding one of our hatched out blue chicks. We had one extra egg that we thought was a double and wasn’t, it just had one giant chick in it.
Fast forward 5 weeks, said chick is male, has feathered feet plus a single comb as well as barring in it’s dark blue feathers.

So...the only two options for our hens to produce feathered feet are our Black Langshans and Light Brahmas.

Where is this barring coming from?
