➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

@KikisGirls what's your timing like for a real batch of quail eggs? How long does it take quail to grow big enough to eat? Is this something you can do year round? Do you let the quail go broody and hatch the eggs so that you can increase your numbers?
18 days to hatch.
6 - 8 weeks to lay eggs.
Same time to butcher to eat.
I'm not sure quail go broody.
When I start with quail I will probably butcher the first few batches...all of them and just buy more eggs and repeat.

I would eventually get to where I would keep a few to coniune to hatch my own eggs.
Rotate them out.

Love all the dog talk, ...reminds me of my white GSD Zach, adopted from rescue at 18 mo- he lived to be 14.

This would be a good time to say @Tesumph love ur artwork!

An artist friend of mine now also deceased drew this portrait of Zack for me.

It's a never ending incubator running problem. Constant hatching. :D
