I am starting to wonder if this Ameraucana (ee) chick is a rooster...

It's too soon to tell. Out of my 3 easter egger chicks, I had one that was quite a bit bigger than the other 3 (and still is), but she ended up being a hen.

Woot! I bet it is a fat pullet. I bet she makes nice chicks. I love her coloring that she's getting. I hope she stays kinda molted-spottish like the first feathers are coming in as.

    only time will tell!

I have 5 EEs from MM and three of them look exactly like that one and are all supposed to be pullets. Even if there is a mistake in my batch, I doubt 3 out of 5 are roos. I bet yours is a pullet, but I think it's early to tell fo sho...

    Thicker, sturdier legs
    Bare wing bows
Different "stance" from the other chicks
I'm fairly certain that's a baby roo [IMG]

I apologize if I am ignorant, as I am new to chickens, but I am just curious... what are "bare wing bows?"

Quote:Look at your chickens from above. The rounded area at the top of wing as it's resting against the body (shaped like an archer's bow) is the wing bow. Some people call it the shoulder. In the pics of that little EE there is very little feathering on the wing bow, it looks pretty bare.
