Tonight I had a chance to build a really nice sliding pop-door for the girls. I had to make a "picture frame" for the hole in the wall with some 1/8" hardboard under it to space it out to clear the vinyl siding. Then I made matching width boards with a dado to let the bead board door panel slip thru. 45 degree mitered corners at the top, but the top trim board is attached to the door. This allows the door to slip shut and look like a "picture frame" door. The bottom is also attached to thesliding panel and has a dado that stops against a thin stop block to stop the door and position the top exactly against the top miters. I have the start of the wire pulley to open the door, but I was not exactly sure what I would need for a pulley yet. Tomorow I can finish off that part of it and get some paint on the door. Also, what really has me excited is that I had a choice to mow the lawn or start the siding. Well, it was almost 7pm and there was no way I could finish the lawn in an hour (even with a tractor!) so I was able to get one wall all sided with the vinyl! Down side is that it was too dark for photos when I finished picking up so you will need to wait for tomorow! Really nice photos coming this week!!
