A New Friend asked about my Houdan Roosters, seems a friend of hers wanted one, seems she would trade me a Cochin Hen for one....
Since I am building my Cochin Flock I agreed. While at work yesterday Pumpkinpup was kind of enough to take care of the trade.
She came by and picked up "Moe" and brought me back this......

The friend of hers that got Moe sent me a surprise!!!!!! This.......

The obvious thing was to name the second one "Prize" it is also Silver Laced, but not sure on sex yet.

Thanks so Much my New Friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nice birds.

I do hope you are practicing good biosecurity.

Beautiful birds!! Luck has its way of finding you sometimes.

2 weeks ago I visited a friend who lives like 12 hrs drive far away from me. Also a fellow poultry fancier, with about 1000 birds give or take, most of which are europe imports and of the best quality(he has like 10 dif colours of bantam wyandottes roaming his property etc). During that visit my Jaw dropped when we went past his leghorn pens because he imported SQ brown leghorns in regular and blue from europe over the past 2 yrs and OMG, are they gorgeous, besides being huge the male had such a full tail with the tips touching the ground and was so bright and beautiful in colour. My friend just asked me: " you like those?" and dissapeared in a barn and came out with 2 cockerals and 1 pullet out of his birds and just handed them to me [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] OMG, I was speechless. He promised me to give me some blue browns next year(together with SQ Laying bloodline Barnevelders he also imported, his breeding stock looks so awesome and the egg colour is amazing).

Luck is a neat thing. Esspecially if you're like me and only plagued by bad luck....

Good luck with your new birdies and I hope that chickie turns out to be a roo so you have a breeding pair of silver laced cochins.
