Couldn't help myself, I've been stricken with chick fever!

Here they are just after I put them in their temporary brooder. They're 3-4 days old.

Any guesses as to what the two colored ones might be? The yellows were sent as assorted pullets and the colored ones as straight runs, but no breeds were given.

that they're all girls!

The brooder is registering at 95 degrees exactly and they're doing great... eating, drinking and faintly peeping. I'm going to fix them up with a huge cardboard box brooder when they get a little older and I can lower the temp a little. I'm so excited, I've never had tiny chicks to love before!

Oh gosh, how cute! Enjoy! I get mine in a few days.....I'm a little nervous, trying to read everything I can in this section.

While BYC is great, it is also helpful to read a couple of honest to goodness comprehensive books about chicks and chickens. I checked several out from my library, and also bought Gail Damerow's Guide to Raising Chickens. I also subscribed to Backyard Poultry.

That's gonna be my problem, I'll only get to see them in the morning, then go to work, and not see them again til I get home.

Are you at home during the day to NOT STAY AWAY FROM THEM?

Mine don't arrive for another month (due to a family trip and not wanting to try to find someone to look in on the babies) and the only way I can make it is when you guys with babies post picts. Thank You! Keep 'em coming.
