My 1 year old hen is on day 7 of corid due to yellow diarrhea. She was previously lethargic, closing her eyes standing up, not with the group and just standing staring blankly, not eating or drinking. I was told to treat with corid by people I asked for help due to these reasons. I also treated her with ivermectin as a precaution last week for worms or mites. We are now on the last day of treatment with Corid and she is no longer lethargic, she is eating slightly and is drinking. But her poops are still diarrhea and VERY STINKY (I just changed the pads last night and pics are from after work) …They are still yellow as well. She’s not laying eggs but she doesn’t feel egg bound (and also hasn’t laid since last fall) and her crop feels empty. I don’t have a local vet that sees chickens and now I’m unsure what else to do to help her. She’s been quarantined since last week away from the flock.

These 2 pics were from day 1 of her corid treatment. Her poops seem less yellow but still diarrhea and still stinky and yellow.

Is she eating? What are you feeding? Is the corid water the only water available? It can take a hen a while to recover from a severe cocci overload but her empty crop isn’t a very good sign.

I switched them a few weeks ago to 20% protein because they molted so hard and I was concerned. The corid water was the only water available. She is not eating great at all, I did just give her a bit of scratch and she gobbled that up so I am hoping that’s a good sign. I am wondering if I should do the 1/2 dose corid for another week? The flock seems fine and I’m not sure if I should treat them or not because I’m so confused if it’s actually coccidiosis or not

Always finish the full corid treatment because if it is coccidiosis one treatment won’t be effective.

The yellow urates in her dropping could be from a reproductive disorder. I would let her be out with the other chickens, so that she may eat better. She looks a little stressed and looks like she has either been overmated by a rooster or feather picked. Is she old enough to have molted?

We didn’t have a rooster (just got one) so there was no mating. She turned one in march and hasn’t laid an egg since the fall. I believe she was the first one to molt in the fall. I didn’t treat the rest of the flock with the corid because I wasn’t sure what the issue was. I will gladly put her back in if it isn’t something she can spread! I plan to give poultry cell now that she’s finished with the corid

Yep she is done today since it’s day 7. I’m not sure if I should decrease to a 1/2 tsp for another 7 days since she still has diarrhea. I have read people do that as well

Two weeks is a full treatment. Don’t give B vitamins in between as it will just feed the remaining cocci and make it harder to get under control

Oh!! I read it was 2tsp/gallon for 5-7 days. Should I be doing another week of it at full strength then?
