Aww I am so sorry about your first flock loss!! My dog did the same thing to my first flock of chickens, too. Except i had 6 chickens, and my dog killed 5.

It was tough to get over, but i got some more chicks, and now they're about 20 weeks, and one has even started laying!! (got my first egg 3 days ago!) Good luck!! Just bear through it, and things will get better!!!

I still get very sad over the loss of our 13 week old roo back in August.When anything we have dies I get sad,but we move on.I would rather we have animals and take the risk of death instead of nothing at all.Hugs for your losses.Hope the hen makes it.

I came across a video I had posted of our roo first starting to crow.Had me sad all day again wishing he was still here.He would have had so much fun with *his flock* of 8 girls.

I put together a chicken med kit after the roo died and one hen was acting odd for a day.I still may not be able to save them when they get sick,but I feel better having everything on hand.
