I got my first egg! Yippee!!

My Silkie "Q-tip" laid her first egg today. It is too cute...

I'm a newbie and I bought 6 Silkies at the feed store this spring and only got 2 girls. I was so sad to have to re-home all those boys

So, I am already a chicken freak (as my sis calls me) and i ordered 11 more girls from Ideal, they are coming this week.

Now, I checked the coop at 9:30 this morning and no egg, my daughter brought it too me at 2:00. Is it safe to eat with this heat?

Congrats!!! I know how it feels. They should be fine to eat. That's not too long to sit in the heat and they are shaded, aren't they? So enjoy the fruits of your labors, and the hens!
