We've had a horrible allergy season this year. . My allergies have been so bad I have to get sinus surgery done next week. My specialist said that although I'm not allergic to the parakeets I still need to give them up because my sinuses are so messed up. So I can't have any house birds. The good news is I can still get my chickens.

I can relate. The dust in the house since I got my finches is a lot worse. I wasn't thinking that it would be as bad as it is. I think i was hoping that the furnace filters would take care of it. I ma wrong about that theory. Still sorry that you have to give up the parakeets.

aww, that is to bad, i have 8 parakeets and dont know what i would do if i had to give them up, i had to give my 2 precious cats away a couple of years ago, because i was so allergic,Face and eyes swelled bad) it was the hardest thing i had to do, but i feel better now so it is kinda a win lose situation. Thinking of you

have you tried a Netipot? I use the one that looks like a condiment bottle - but with a different tip. When I first decided to try it - I was certain I would die - squirting water up my nose - but you do not feel a thing! And you can continue to breathe thru your mouth the entire time. It has cleared up any sinus issues I have had. When I start to get a headache and I can do it and within 10 mins - headache is gone!

Nope no netipot for me. I'm not fiddling around until after the surgery and I'm healed. The dr said I have some disease cells up there too that need to go as well as opening up my sinuses. I just finished a round of antibiotics and my sinuses don't feel much better. I moved the surgery up to this Wed.
