I have 7 broody hens at my house!

One is a Silkie, another a d'Uccle (these two always tag team and sit together

), and the others are all Orpingtons. Silly things.

Keri78 and Attack Chicken - Thank you for the suggestions! I might do take eggs out of the bator and let them deal with them, but I might not at the same time. These eggs were meant to be chicks to sell and I can't take them straight away from their mamma's. I feel bad for the mamma hens when that happens.

thats what Im doing too.. Both my LF Cochins are broody-one has 2 turkey eggs under her and the other has 4 splash amaracauna eggs-1 split Lav silkie egg-1 call duck egg-so that will be a neat hatch too!!! Pulled them from the bator!

I couldnt take chicks from their mommas either:-( I might have to though-

I've taken chicks from my black Orp., Raven, before and she was so sad. She looked for those babies for days and it made me feel terrible.

Do you know, 2 wks. later she went broody again? That time I let her raise those babies until she was sick of them!

Just joking. My DH wouldn't do that to me but we have a serious vacation planned the end of July and I cannot get tied up with to many chicks. Who in their right mind would watch my flock for a week and a half with a zillion chicks to look after on top of what I already have?
