She had the baby around 6:30, he is standing and then with my help he drank from both teets w/ in a hour of birth. My question is, how often should I see him nursing now so I am sure he will do it on his own?

Teh moms dont let them nurse for long so he will take alot of long sips all day long. Some does will eventually let them nurse for longer periods of time. You should see him nurse at least 6 or 8 times in the first day...Congrats...

Thank you Chatychick! Of course today of all days, I have several activities scheduled, but I will make sure I come home often to check on them.

Okay here are some pictures from right after the birth. Also, I called my breeder and he said the same thing Chatychick said, so I am going to worry a little less now and just enjoy him.
