I have a 6 yr old RIR hen who sits mostly and cant stand up fully on both legs..
Her tail is also pointing downwards..Im thinking of putting her down tomorrow unless?..any ideas

Please give us a picture. Also does she lay eggs? (I would assume she wouldn’t but who knows) and how many chickens do you have?

It could be one issue going on or a combination; eggbound, external parasites, internal parasites.

With my older hens, I will usually think about a reproductive problem, such as internal laying or egg yolk peritonits, ascites or watery belly, or a crop problem. Sometimes a crop problem may be related to EYP. If you put her out of her mysery, you may want to do a necropsy to look for a cause. If you do, take pictures of her organs and post here for any help.
