Long story short, picked up a chickie and a duckie from a friend of my boyfriend's that got in over their head. I'm assuming it's somewhere around 4 weeks? It reminds me of my SLW but they didn't have a comb that young...

I thought so. Is it possible that it's a roo with a comb at that age? I'm wondering if that's why they got rid of it.

I think it’s a pullet. Wyandottes should have rose combs, but some have single combs like yours.

Just the one. Somehow a friend of my boyfriend's ended up with two baby chicks and a duckling, one chick died, and then they realized they couldn't care for them. So we offered to take then.

I understand but you’re going to need to find another duckling for it eventually if you plan to keep it.

We will. It's just we're going on vacation in a few weeks, so we can't get any babies until afterwards... we should have just enough time to get these out in the coop and integrated with the rest of the flock before we leave... can't risk having a bunch of little ones in a brooder as well.
