WE HAVE BABIES!!!!!!
I noticed one of the Black Tailed White Japanese bantam hens setting on what looked like a nest a few weeks ago. I told Bill to leave her alone and see what happens.
Well, as of this morning, we have 5 babies hatched, one egg with a hole in it and you can see the beak pecking. And 4-5 more eggs that haven't hatched yet, so I don't know how many of them will or won't hatch.
They are sooooooooooooooooo cute!!!!
My brother and I just got the chickens a couple months ago. We went to a farmers market and someone had several there. About four roos and about 8 hens. My brother picked out a rooster and a grey hen. I then got two more hens. All are the BTW Japanese except the grey Japanese bantam. So we came home with three hens and the roo. We didn't get them planning on raising any, but figured if we did ever get babies, it might be interesting. Well, we did get babies. And I am tickled pink!!!!
My brother had to go back home to Springfield, IL on May 4 so he isn't here to get to see them, but I did call him. He is as excited as I am.
Will try to get some pictures later today.
