This morning: Some food left in the feeder, but getting low, will need to refill later. I have a small automatic feeder that you would normally use for something like a cat.

This afternoon: No food in feeder, ducklings completely cleared it out. Still, they have grass, bugs, and water.

Ducklings: -silence- Peep?
-silence- .... peep peep...
-human appears in backyard-
Oh my god! There she is!
HEY! HEY FOOD HUMAN!
HEYY!!
You think she hears us?
I dunno dude, she seems to be moving rabbits or something.
I think she's ignoring us.
Ugh. I know.

Me: Hello ducklings! Are you hungry?

Ducklings: OH YES
WE ARE SO HUNGRY
STARVED IN FACT!
HAVEN'T HAD ANYTHING TO EAT
SHRIVELING WITH HUNGER!
FEED US PLEASE!
FOOOOOD!

That just cracked me up, they see you so it's 'peep peep peep quack quack peep' then you talk to them and they just about explode in ducky excitemnt

I went back in to get the food, came out again, and just about squished my drakes because they had to sit RIGHT outside the door waiting for me to come back.

Ducks! Gotta love them
