Hi i dont know much about silkies but by looking at your photos i think its possible its a male and maybe wrong, the only over way its get hold of the bird and gently pull one of its wings away from its body and check the feathers if there are two layers of feathers near the tip its a hen but if its one layer its a male.

Hmm..... 10.5 weeks is kinda young to venture a guess... But I'll take the risk. With a tail like that I'd say you have a cockerel. But do you have any closer pictures of the comb? Some folks on here can tell the difference by the size of the bas of the comb. (I'm not one of them!)

From day one Debby has had an impressive comb for a chick. I too lean towards a boy lol but s/he'll stay until the first crow/egg. If it's a boy I still want to keep him and get him some girl friends as silkies are hands down my favorite breed but him staying depends entirely on his behavior and inclination towards crowing. Super crowers can not stay as while technically I'm allowed roosters I don't want to attracted too much attention. Of course there is a Old English the same age who just started crowing so I hope they don't encourage each other lol

I had 2 silkie roos in the past and neither had that high-note ear-splitting crow.
