Sliding into That nastiest of holidays - V-day. (don't get me started) I am being bombarded by commercials and ads telling me that love is: jewelry and roses and candlelight dinners. Now, don't get me wrong, those things are all lovely and I enjoy them, but they aren't love.

    Here's what love is:

It is -5 degrees and DH gets up at 4AM, bundles in seven layers of clothes and goes to work! He kisses me and his girls and he goes out in the dark and cold for us. That's love.

I go out and get in my car and the tank is full. He got gas in cans and filled my tank, standing out in the cold 2xs!! (once to fill the cans and once to put it in my tank) So I wouldn't have to stand out once! That's love.

He stands in the back of the hall, the only Dad at a girl scout cookie rally and claps for his little girls. That's love.

    I don't need $100 roses - I know love when I see it. [IMG]

Awwwwwww... I agree with you 100%.

Have anyone ever heard of the love languages? It's interesting that people communicate and feel loved in different ways. We may think we're showing love to someone, but they aren't feeling loved because the love language being used isn't the same for both people.

Awww my hubby does those things too - leaves for work when its dark and freezing cold, he gets up in the middle of the night to take the dog out when she whines.
He gives me the whole bed when we have a sick child that wants to sleep in the middle.
my gas tank is always full. [IMG]

He gets up earlier on weekends, and does all my chores before I wake up. Or he'll let me take a late afternoon nap and then do those chores. [IMG]

    What's love...

When hubby gets up and takes our son to school so I don't have to and I can sleep in.

When he puts my sugar and cream in my coffee cup so all I have to do is add the coffee

When he lugs the water out to the chickens in the below freezing weather and gives them a treat in the morning so I don't have to.

When he's away from home and I call him and say "wanna take a road trip" and he says "what did you buy off craigslist today" [IMG]

When we go pick up my craigslist purchase and he stands outside in freezing taking dog kennels apart and chopping on one that's partially buried in the ground so I can have my goat/chicken fencing so I can add on to my maddness [IMG]

    That's Love [IMG]

You're a lucky woman to have a man that will do those things for you. Your husband is a lucky man to have a wife that notices what he does for her. So many times their love goes unnoticed by us women. That's great that you notice all he does for you! Keep it up!

I'm right there with you girl! [IMG]

My wonderful hubby got up this morning at 6:00 and headed out the door in 5 degree temps. He won't be home until tomorrow morning and more than likely will be out in this cold weather, beckoning to every call of the citizens in Danville, because that is his job and what he loves to do.

It most definitely a HUGE blessing to be able to stay at home in the warm, while your husband heads out to support you and your family. A very HUGE blessing indeed! [IMG]
