He was one of my favorites. DH found him on his shelf where he sleeps in the coop when he came home from work. He didn't have any obvious problem. He was healthy and robust, then suddenly... gone.
I came home from my business trip last night and didn't have the heart to walk out to the coop. I dread walking out this morning and not seeing him. I wish I videotaped him running up the path when I called him. It was so cute - he looked like an old man running.
He was only six months old. He didn't range outside of the coop unsupervised. He wasn't a "fighter"; he never tussled with the others. All the other birds are fine, so I don't suspect disease, at least not something very contagious. He was one of my healthier birds in terms of being strong.
Goodbye, sweet little Henry.
