Back in Nov I agreed to help out my Great Aunts friend. She had a goat given to her and she wasn't ready to bring her home so she asked if I could bored her and use my buck on her. I agreed for feed costs and if she had twins I got one for my freezer. Well I have been trying to contact her for 2 weeks now. No return calls. So I called my Great Aunt and she said she has been thinking about leaving her because she doesn't think she can care for her. Great! Its a freaking LaMancha that someone has made the udder lopsided due to bad milking practices. She comes from good lines and has good conformation but I don't like LaManchas. My breed of choice is Oberhasli. If she is going to dump her on me I want the papers! Am I out of line for being upset and demanding papers?

Not at all. I had someone do that to me when they asked if I could pick up their rabbits at a show I was going to! Well I live close to the buyer so I agreed, the breeder was 3 hrs away. So I agreed to pick up the rabbit at a show for the lady, never picked them up at all!!! I had to keep them 4 months, the breeder never answered either! I finally just sold them as is, no papers.

If you were closer, I would offer to buy her as a friend for our goat guy. To bad, and I hope it all works out

Things will work out. I am just really annoyed. Just give me answers. I think this doe would make a good baby producer for a 4-Her or a milker for a family. I just need to get her papers and get them transfered to me so I can start finding a buyer. I don't like the temperment of the LaManchas I have met. Including her. I am not sure what I can get out of her if I sell her paperless.

I'd take her over to the aunts house. It's her goat, let her deal with her.

Good luck

The goat belongs to a friend of my aunt. My Aunt lives in the city and is terminally ill. The only creature that might tempt her is a Saint Bernard lol. Aunt B. Is the one that told me the lady is backing out of taking her.

You have been spending money feeding the goat, so yes you should get the papers. Did your aunt say her friend had the papers?

Does the goat have papers in the first place? I swear, though, I'm the only one who thinks papers are just that - papers.

In the end, if it's agreed you can rehome her someone will want her. Maybe you won't be paid $400 for her, but you got her for free anyway so what's the big deal? Not to mention you'll get to sell the kids as well. Just price her at an amount you would feel compenstates for the feed/housing for 5 months as well as the kids.

I wouldn't get 400 for her anyway. I am thinking if I can get her papers she would be a good brood doe for a 4-H kid. She should produce good babies for them since her udder has been ruined (lopsided but milkable). She tested Neg for CAE and Johnes a few weeks ago so they wouldn't have to worry about that.
