I know that they are not SQ but are they good enough to be breeder quality? I am thinking of getting some better ones later on to improve on what isn't good. I can judge horses, but chickens I have no idea about, lol. I posted a pick of my roo, the hens are about the same quality. They are a little over 5 months now. Thanks for the help.

I'm not a great judge of Sebrights, but I've seen a whole lot worse being shown. I think you definitely have some nice breeders. The lacing looks very good, and your roos comb looks quite correct as well. He looks a bit off in his body shape a bit and his tail breaks quite hard from his back, but again, I've see way worse.

Do you have a anymore pics?

I have one showing his other side with one of the hens behind him. I don't know what she was looking at, lol.

For my point of view, looks good.

For the Standard of Sebright type: an extremely short U-shaped back,
short legs, broad shoulders, short compact body, prominent breast and a well spread tail carried at 70 egrees. These are things necessary for a good Sebright type.

For information on Sebright Standard try The American Bantam Association.

    Best luck.

he's not bad at all, a bit long on the back, but then again he's still a cockerel, his saddle is not fully filled yet.

not sure about US standard, but british standard goes like this...

    lacing 25 points
    ground colour 15 points
    comb 5 points
    face and lobes 10 points
    tail 10 points
    type 20 points
    weight 5 points
    condition 10 points.

    -------------------------- +

    100 points.

No, I don't think they're that bad either, but they do need some refinement. They look a bit long in the back and the break to the tail is too high and sharp. The lacing is really good and it doesn't look like there's much 'smut' as the judges call it in the tail or other areas. Smut is the term they use around here to describe dark speckling within the white areas of the feather.

In a breeding program I would watch for the lacing in the neck though as it looks like he may have a bit of a white 'frost' around the edge of his hackle feathers. Maybe also work toward a bit rounder skull and shorter beak...again, just some refinement in certain areas. Those are the points that make the difference in Best of breed at a show and champion RCCL and beyond.

    Cheers,

Can't tell about the size but the colour is very nice. The tail carraige is the most obvious flaw. I'd say they were worth starting with. I've handled worse in shows.

Thanks everyone. I've got a pretty good idea what I need to work on. At least I have a starting point. It's going to be fun improving on what I have. [IMG]
