I need help downloading picts from my digital camera

I've got a new digital camera and have been trying to download some of the picts but no luck. Do I need to compress them before downloading? They have been downloaded to my computer but I can't get them to my uploads file. Any ideas?

Click the uploads choice at the top of the screen. Select browse and find the photo that you want to upload. Check mark the box that says resize image ? and leave it on website choice. Click submit. It will upload your photos.

Thanks. I was actually doing it right. It's just taking long I think because they are so many MB's. The downsizing is taking like forever... My screensaver actually comes on!!!
