So for starters when I feed my chickens this morning everyone was fine except two of my hens have a few feathers missing from well doing the deed. So as I put them up tonight I see my youngest pullet has one eye swollen pics below mating or something else? I separated her just in case. Keep in mind she is the only one with any swelling out of 8. And no runny noses either.

Hi Adam,
poor girl, looks uncomfortable!!
I would imagine you will need to try squeeze that out, but I'll leave it up to the experts to explain how as I have never had to do it! Could you have a look inside her beak to see if you can see anything there? I think you were right to separate her for now. Hopefully some of the wiser ones will be along shortly!

I’ve dealt with respiratory issues years ago and those birds had many other symptoms breathing difficulties runny noses and eyes hints why I wanted more opinions

Do you see bubbles or drainage in the eye? Are there any other symptoms, such as sneezing, rattly breathing or wheezing? It looks like a sinus infection, such as mycoplasma gallisepticum or MG, or coryza, but E.coli or other bacteria may also cause this. If you think it might be MG, you can try some Tylan 50 injectable from your feed store. Get 3 ml syringes with 18 or 20 gauge shot needles. Remove the needle and give the Tylan 50 by mouth. Dosage is 0.25 ml per pound of weight given 3 times daily for 3-5 days. How much does she weigh? A 6 pound hen would get 1.5 ml. If she doesn’t improve after 3 days of the Tylan, you may be dealing with another bacteria, and can think about switching drugs.
