I Need Some Advice Fast Please

I have a newly hatched chick. Hatched out 3 hours ago. The umbilical cord is still attached to chick and shell. Can I clip this? Or how does the cord detach from the shell??? Please answer fast, as he is starting to move alot and I am afraid he will tear it.

I would leave it alone.

Leave it they usually kick free eventually. If still there in a couple of hours and the yolk is absorbed and veins thin and dry then you can clip it.

I left it til this afternoon then when it was thin and dried out I clipped it with no problems. Thank you very much.
