I have been saving tiles for YEARS !!! and I have finally decided it's TIME ....I know I spelled Mozaic wrong ...only had half a coffee so far...
I need some tips and advice from people that have made a table for outside...
I will store the table inside during our lovely winter months and it will be under/in a qazebo during the other months ..
I have sweet talked hubby into using four cedar posts for legs...
-Should I put quarter round trim on the table first or put it on after wards?
Can anyone give me some personal tips ...do's and donts ....I have a couple books and did some research on the net but I just want some personal advice.....
-have you used plywood or cement drywall for the base ?
-cement glue to hold tiles down?
    thanks so much ...

Maybe I can help a little. Usually I mosaic over already made furniture or on concrete. But I did make our kitchen counter and that's really the same thing.
I used plywood with the cement backer board over it for the counter. Its really sturdy and I haven't had any problems yet (6 years). If you put the quarter round on first you'll have a nice area to work in but maybe coat it with something so the grout doesn't ruin it. I don't think you could stain over grout residue very well, but paint should be ok.

You can use silicone adhesive to stick the tiles down if you want it to be really waterproof, but the regular tile adhesive works just fine. Maybe ask at a tile store what they recommend for swimming pools or fountains. (Never thought of that before! [IMG] )

Hope this helps! Have lots of fun, I love mosaic and tile work.[IMG]

I'll find a few pics tomorrow. And maybe clean off the counter enough to get some of it.
