I only have 3 male ducks, and I have an egg

I would think that a bird could develop a hormone imbalance because of a health glitch such as a tumor that would cause it to take on the secondary sexual characteristics and behaviors of the opposite sex, but it wouldn't really change from one gender to the other.

And I was reading about muscovies somewhere (Holderread's Storey Guide?) recently and it mentioned heavily caruncled females sometimes being sterile. So I'm wondering if you don't have a female that looks very much/passes for a male.

the one walking away, is actually much larger then the other 2.

That could be, as the blue is very passive and the other 2 really seem to like it.. I bought it as a pair with a female that was obviously a female, and it looked very masculine next to it.

sorry to burst into this thread, But facts are facts.... I got into an argument telling a friend, not to be so stupid! ... She came to me very upset that her hen had turned male, and she might have to get rid of it because of the neighbours, It actually did crow sounds same as only cockerals do!, big spurs grew comb and everything just changed (weather or not this bird could repoduce I am not sure) but I could try and track down this lady for non believers of this happening........ I felt guilty for telling her not to be stupid its impossible..

Females taking on male characteristics from age or health affects is common. But they will still have the internal reproductive structures of a female.

I know that, in chickens, a female will take on male characteristics if there's no rooster. She's still a hen, but crows and fights like a roo.

I am suspecting that either one of your chickens laid a very large, unusual egg or one of your muscovies is a female that has a hormonal problem.

Now on this duck it actually looks more horn like and even like ? a absess sort of thing.. but its obviously not, both the black ducks have it its hard and horn like. Where the Above duck, only has soft red tissue.. would a hen have this much carbunckling?
