About 3 weeks in I get pussie eyes and build-up on their beak were their nostrils are and I now understand why.

I'm not sure i Bleach my breeder boxes i put lye down. Just don't know what else to do.

Are you saying you don't understand why the chicks get pus in their eyes and nostrils?
Are the chicks dying?
Why are you using lye? I would think that would be an irritant to the babies' respiratory systems.

I would strip all of the bedding material. I have a sheet of craft paper on the bottom of my brooder then a layer of pine shavings and that is all. Definitely leave out the lye!

Are you saying you don't understand why the chicks get pus in their eyes and nostrils?
Are the chicks dying?
Why are you using lye? I would think that would be an irritant to the babies' respiratory systems.

Sometimes they do die. I use the lye when I clean out the boxes. I was told that it would take care of any Bacteria in the boxes or the ground, but I was having this problem before I started using the lye.

What heat source, if any, do you provide?
