I gave blood. [IMG] [IMG] I'm trying to get into the habit of doing it as soon as I can. DBF and I gave blood on Christmas eve. He couldn't today b/c his BP was too high - he'd just gotten frustrated with his boss & doesn't handle stress well.

And to think, I used to be afraid of needles!

What a wondeful thing you did. When I had my son premature 14 years ago I received a blood tranfusion. We almost lost him in an accident 18 months ago. He had lost over 1/3 of his blood. A transfusion saved his life. So Thank you! [IMG]

You're welcome. Or somebody's baby is welcome.

The next time I can give blood is on 4/17. I told the blood bank that it was too close to tax day and my blood will all be gone.

Quote:MY DW always laughed at me for being afraid to give blood. "It's
nothing" she said. Well, finally there was a local blood drive and we
went. I filled the bag quicker than anyone else the girl who stuck me
said she had seen. I had a vitamin water and felt fine. My poor DW
couldn't fill the bag, got stuck three times, and then got sick.

It's nice to help others like that and now there are other people
out there with my blood in their veins. Poor bastages. [IMG]

    giving blood is wonderful....

I have given twice and both times was ill for a full week each time afterwards no matter what I did. I was really pale and weak. First time I gave and it happened i told them about it and they told me next time I give to make sure to eat a good meal and sugars as well so I did I hogged out lol...I was still sick and almost passed out....and then was miserable for a whole week again. *shortness of breath etc*. So i ahvent given again but would love to.

My mom needed a TON of bags of blood to save her life....i think 8? I may be exaggerating but she's not awake to ask her. I know that she should have died htough. SHe was bleeding internally from her hysterectomy surgery and her thin blood. You dont know how much I wish it wasnt annonomous, do you realize how much i'd LOVE ot hug those donors? My mama is here today because them [IMG].
