I went to town today for a dr's appt. and of course I stopped at Atwoods. For those of you not familiar with Atwoods it's like a Tractor Supply Store or co-op or as I call it, the farm girl's Walmart. As soon as I walk in the door I knew....they have gotten their baby poultry in. I could hear them all the way thru the store. The guinea keets were cute, but easy for me to resist with a day sleeper SO, the geese were cute but easy to resist for the same reason as the keets. The bantams were all very lively and absolutely adorable, but I have 23 chicks coming from Ideal in April. That's when I noticed the ducks, or one in particular. It seemed that no matter which tank I went to look in this one little duckling followed my every move with his lil neck stretched out as far as he/she could so he wouldn't lose sight of me. It was a case of instant love but I walked out of there without him I did call my SO on the phone and tell him about them. He didn't say no, but 'where are you going to keep them?' It occured to me on my way home...if I had just whined a little harder. Oh and the mgr. of the store must think I am one of those people. I pointed out to him that the standard chicks were all huddled under their light (needing more heat) and that the ducks had too much access to water in their waterer. I did good right?
