I sing this old-school Sesame Street song to my four-week-old chicks. They're still in the garage, so the neighbors haven't caught me. Yet. [IMG]

I remember that one! Nothing wrong with singing to them, it gets them used to your voice. And if the neighbors look at you like you're crazy, just look back at them like they're the crazy ones!

That was cute. Be careful though. When they grow up you might regret all this when you can't get them to come down from the trees! [IMG]

Oh my goodness! I remember that song! Wow...total nostalgia moment. I just pictured myself 3 years old, sitting with my Glowworm and my Sally doll at my little activity table, coloring pictures while watching Sesame Street....awesome.

I sing to my animals, starting with my dogs. It kept the nervous nelly calm when I brushed him so now they each have their own song, mostly repeating their names but sometimes I add a little story about their day a la Chaucer.

Mister Ted he is a wussy boy, wussy boy
My Mister Ted, Mister Ted....fussy pants and stinky pants and don't you brush his head.

Both of our dogs have a song that I sing to them.. Tater's is set to the "spider man music"; Tater man, tater man, etc. Daisy's is the "Davy Crockett" song, Daisy queen of the wild back yard. I just talk to the chickens, it would be pretty silly to sing to them.

The dogs are normally highly amused, this picture was taken when I refused to sing to them.

LOVE the chicken song; it reminded me of some abandoned chickens who roosted in our sycamore tree in Charleston SC. I remember watching a mother hen teach her babies lhow to jump from limb to limb to get up in the tree. And KenK, your dogs are adorable. "Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast". I think I'll start singing to my dogs and chickens (I already sing to the cats).

I just tried singing this to my lead hen and she loved it. Thanks for the video! I am an early adopter of Sesame Street (was 3 years old in 1971), but I didn't remember this song. Very cute animation, too.

Never miss a chance to sing....not even to a chicken.

*Now I was never a good singer. Sort of what you might call a Spooky voice.
But some many years ago, I "hired" three of my cousins to come and serande
my wife for Valentines day. We lived in an apartment at the time.

    It was a great plan.

Except the boys got the wrong apartment. We were the next window over.

** My wife hated my singing. Shucks, even I hated my singing. The preacher...
he wouldn't even let me sing in church. I can't sing. So I played an imaginary
tuba, it stays in the console of the car...I play at red lights, in traffic. Left it at
Pizza Hut once. Had to order another one.
