i somehow acquired 2 runaways and i have questions. please help

I don’t mean to be the “rule breaker” here but how likely is it that they will come across exposure to bird flu outside the run, in the yard, versus in the run? I mean like if you were to let them out once or twice a week? How close are they to being exposed to things that could transmit bird flu? How are others in your area handling it?

Also, have you tried picking them up yet?

i don't really know the answers to any of the questions but i saw my vet friend today who was like "keep them in for now."
i am going to listen to her.
i don't know any others with chickens. except the original chicken guy who i haven't seen. at ALL.

we have our crows, but recently there have been loads of seagulls around. i don't know why because we are not near the sea. the crows have been chasing them away.
i wouldn't trust those dirty scoundrels.

i have not tried picking them up during the day.
😳
i feel like they would be really offended 😂
but i could try?

It is better safe than sorry. I just wasn’t sure how big the risk was. If they’re having a lockdown, I’m sure the risk is real. I’m sorry I’m just wishful thinking for you.

Maybe it will be easier than you think to pick them up and carry them to the greenhouse? If anything, if you have a nice treat waiting for them in there, the fit they throw about being picked up will be long forgotten once they’re in there!

also. i asked himself what kind of a picture was he expecting me to draw. and he said a reasonable one. and then he said "like this high" (like a meter...3 feetish.)
that's just a waste of time. a tunnel would be better.

i might try to do that. it would be the easiest way if they agreed to it.

thank you for wishful thinking for me.
i don't know what i am supposed to do. i'd be willing to bet nobody else in ireland with backyard chickens is thinking about this as much as me 😂

Maybe you could put poultry netting or shade cloth or something temporarily above the area between your shed and green house and come up with some sort of a temporary way to wall off the covered area. That could give them a bit more (covered) space to play in.
