Hi All! New to the chicken world. We just began raising our golden laced wyandottes a month ago, today! We have 6 pullets from a local feed store. We got them when they were 4 days old. This little one looks suspicious of being a rooster. Two weeks ago this cute comb and wattle began to appear. The others don't have this facial structure. Can anyone advise further? Thank you so much!
* I also included the female as well for comparison.

He has a single comb, but wyandottes have a rose comb. Sometimes you might get an outlier that carries a straight comb gene. Can you tell if he is marked the same as the others? Do they also have straight combs or a rose type comb? It may be too early to tell.
A) he was in the wrong group of birds at the feed store
B) your chicks may not be pure bred wyandottes,
C) or the breeder has a pair of wyandottes with the recessive straight comb gene.

Who supplies your feed store with birds? A hatchery or a local breeder? When you got them, were they kept in a mixed group with other breeds or separated by breed?

We got them from Tractor Supply Co. In Leominster, MA. The other gals aren't showing any rose combs yet. He's adorable and cute , however, if he is in fact a male, he'll need a new home as we do not want a rooster. Thank you for your input.

He's just hatchery-quality, many hatchery Wyandottes have single combs. Definitely a boy too!

Well at least he was single-combed so you could figure it out quicker. lol But yes, definitely a male. And not one you'd want to use for breeding because of the incorrect comb type.
