Hello. I am very new to the chicken scene and am finding my Silkies to be so much more fun and complicated than I thought. I have a Black Silkie Pullet and what I was told was a partridge chick. It did have the chipmunk coloring. I go it on August 30 and was also told it was a week old. If that info is correct it is about 4 months old. This chick has just recently developed a bit of a mulberry comb and dropped a little wattle. I'm thinking "Hugby" may just be a rooster. One clue is that it is pretty fearless when it comes to claiming his share of goodies and taking care of "Mombeau" (his best pal). One other clue would be that while the big hens tolerate mombeau they will send him packing pretty quick. Fortunately for him he has lots of places to hide out, although he is way faster than any of my big girls. I would like some opinions on gender and or color pattern. Cant wait till tomorrow afternoon to see what you silkie fans have to say. Thanks in advance.

I agree with LilPeeps. 'Course I'm a big help. I have two 6 1/2 month old silkies that I still don't know the sex on.

Thanks everbody. I'm not supposed to have any roosters. Shhh, don't tell the hubby! He is a sweetie. I'd re-home him, but I'm fascinated by him. Does anyone know whether or not I should let him eat layers mash or something else. Thanks again.
