    Hello All,

This Spring I received a Rainbow Layer Assortment from McMurray's. All the birds were healthy and happy, the only drawback though is that they don't list what they've sent you. I've got a few hens that I think are Golden Penciled Hamburgs, but I'm really not sure. They are brown egg layers. Any ideas?

That doesn't look like a Hamburg to me, they have more of a barred pattern.

EDIT: Nevermind, there wasn't a slate gray at all. The second picture shows more of a chestnut color.

She reminds me of a Welsummer... How dark are her eggs?

Her earlobes are white. She (yes she) is a brown leghorn.

They have white earlobes, which would indicate a white egg layer like a brown leghorn. Are they already laying so you know what color they lay for sure?

The egg on the left came from one of the girls in the photo. [IMG]
