We just inherited 17 chickens last week (yay!) and I'm trying to figure out their breeds. In these pictures I give my best guesses after numerous internet searches. I'd love it if you all can help with these. I've tried to include pics that show plumage, combs/wattles, and legs to aid in identification. Unfortunately, I do not know the ages of any of these chickens.

First is a speckled Sussex hen.
Second does look like a game hen of some sort.
Third--not a Leghorn. She looks like a mixed breed bird. She could be part Leghorn, but the body shape is off. Leghorns have the large enamel white earlobes, and the markings on the feather on the body are different. they also lay white eggs, not sure what this lady lays.
Fourth is a pretty Dark Brahma hen. I've got to get me some of those this spring, they're such eye candy!
The rooster looks like a game bird to me.

Overall, looks like a wonderful "inheritance" [IMG]. congrats!

    1 - Speckled Sussex female
2 - Mixed breed, probably has some Brown Leghorn in her
    3- Brown Leghorn female
    4- Dark Brahma female
5- Silver Phoenix with the wrong earlobe coloring, typical of hatchery stock.
