But only if he comes out TOP standards of the GSD.
He comes from awesome lines from known schutzhund competitors. His lines can be traced back to the 1800s!

Hes going to be a big boy! At 6 months he already outweighs my 3 year old female GSD.
His ears have stood up since 8 weeks old.

Being only 6 months old he has not fully grown, while Im sure hell come out meeting the standards, I dont know if I want to neuter him yet.
I would like to take him to shows to see just how he would place.
Anyone ever shown dogs here?
How would a novice go about it?

To me he has the old look of ther German lines GSD. Nice thick body with a large head straight back. Not a rump that is about to touch the ground.
I think it is important to bring this back..

The ONLY thing I am afraid of is him marking his territory in my house. When will that start up?
If he knows I am fully dominate and the other two are dominate over him (hes the last in the pack) will he still do it inside?

From one novice to another:

Find your local Kennel club and start going to meetings. It is uncomfortable at first, but you learn a lot.

My male doesn't mark in the house, even when my female is in heat.
That doesn't mean he didn't try at first. A quick NO! and being put outside stopped it before it started. (And my dogs thinking I am the Supreme Leader of all miniature schnauzers helps too!)

He is a pretty very pretty dog. I am extremely partial to the working bred GSD. He looks like he comes from west german show lines. I could be incorrect on this as I can't quite place the structure of his father due to how he's laying in the pic.

You won't do well in an AKC show, because the AKC only recognizes the american style of GSD in their conformation shows. If Baal is registered AKC you could go to a few fun match shows and classes (AKC) to teach you how to handle and train him for the show ring. I really don't think a judge would take him seriously in a real show because he's not the American style. You would do better going to UKC or one of the lesser known breed registeries. I know of several working GSD breeders who have shown and done well with their dogs in UKC.

You could also get him registered with the SV (german parent club for GSD) and show him in SV style shows where they expect to see working dog and German show dog conformation.

As far as his weight is concerned I hope you aren't thinking that because he's so large now he'll meet the standard. Many people think that their 100 + pound dog is what a GSD should be. If you read any standard--be it SV or AKC-- you won't find a standard that calls for a male GSD over 27 inches tall at the shoulder and super heavy. GSD should be a very athletic dog and it largeness takes away from that.

I think you would have a lot of fun in the sport, if you chose the right avenue to take him. Other wise you won't find AKC to be really supportive of your dog. Its just the way it is.

Double and triple what Jamie said. That, plus if you want to show him, hire a professional handler. You don't have time to beat the learning curve, even if you had a competent person that was a really good teacher and the time to meet with them regularly, practice, had "the knack" already and your dog was a natural. Almost zero chance of that happening in the next year or two. You do a dog a disservice by showing them badly, which all novices do. There is only a short window usually to get your points, just a few years of their best years for showing, and you don't want to mess up his chances of winning. If you want to learn to show, practice with and show some dog that it really doesn't matter if you win or lose, and the stakes are not so high, then maybe you will be ready to show his offspring when the time comes. Not trying to come off harsh, just save you and your dog a lot of wasted time and money and him miss his majors. Good luck to you. He is a very handsome dog. I FAR prefer the German lines, but in this country the long, low slung, crippled dog is the look they are after.

Personally, I find that sad

. I love the old style German Shepherd...the american style...not so much. It's just good to see there are some old style GS left in the world!

You didnt come off harsh Onthespot! I understand what you are saying!!
It kinda upsets me that AKC he wouldnt do well..
CKC just doesnt seem to have the respect that AKC does

CKC doesn't have respect because if a dog "looks" like a breed it can be registered.

He's a beautiful boy. Can you find a GSD breeder near you to be a mentor? What about his breeder? Can you ask him/her to help mentor you along the way?
