    Help!
My chicken which I believe is a frizzle is very aggressive and noisy compared to my other chickens. They don't get along with her and I am starting to think she is a rooster. Please let me know what you guys think! She was out all last night and we couldn't find her anywhere. I thought we lost her and then this morning she was in the backyard as if nothing happened [IMG]

    Hi :welcome Rachel

Glad you could join the flock! Your bird is certainly a frizzle and from the pics you have posted it looks to be a roo. Could you get some pics of the head/wattles/comb? You can pop by the what breed gender section where I'm sure members will be able to offer you more opinions, here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

Good luck and enjoy BYC :frow

I don't know frizzled feathering well at all. But also it's really hard to get a clear look at your bird in these pics - any chance of a good head shot - especially showing the comb/wattles. I think the saddle and hackle feathers will be hard to judge...but may a clear, close-up shot of the back area, right before the tail???

How old is this bird?? Pullets getting close to laying can be VERY noisy. Is it crowing or just squawking loudly???

After several hours of playing CSI on my frizzle we found her sleeping in the bushes. When we picked her up she was laying on 20 small white eggs. It all makes sense now. Trying to protect her eggs. I can't believe we didn't realize this before. And we think she was laying on her eggs as well as our silkies eggs bc there are small white and small cream eggs. So she is a hen, a protective mother
I can't figure where to add pics but will asap

Yayyyy!!! Glad she's a girl! That makes sense about her being loud then. It was either the egg song or growling to protect her nest. If you're going to let her set on the eggs (at least if you have a rooster and there's a possibility that they're fertile) then I would move them to a secluded corner of the coop so that she will not be vulnerable to predators at night...
