My Indian Runner is favoring her left foot. She can use it, but will not put it down or put weight on it. There is no sign of outer damage. The joint where all the toes meet the leg is swollen and tender. The vet has offered to x-ray it and splint it, but at the tune of $220.00!!! When my toe was broken the doctor said there's nothing that could be done except to keep it still and wait for it to heal. how does one do that with a duck?

You can splint it yourself. Also give vitamins. Can you keep her separate from everyone else?

Do you have a photo? Because sometimes bumblefoot looks like what you are describing.

I can separate her, but they don't like to be apart from each other. I have 2 runners and one not-a-runner. I ordered 3 but mistakes were made... They are all females, 3 years old.

I looked up BumbleFoot - she does have a growth on her right foot that she doesn't seem to care about, but her left foot is swollen at the joint.
I will try to get a pic for you.

The right foot looks like it could be a bumble. Does it foam when you put hydrogen peroxide on it?

Is it open because you opened it, or is it like that by itself?

We tried to open it - there was a scab-like bit hanging on it. But nothing comes out. She doesn't seem to care about the right foot. It is the left one that she is not using.
