About two weeks ago now that my dear rooster Thor passed away. I've tried introducing a new cockerel to the now 3 year old hens; they're not interested.

Yesterday I went out to the orchard to call the girls in. The minute they saw me, three of the girls squatted.

I tried to explain to them. If they want a rooster, they're going to have to settle for a real rooster. I'm not one. [IMG]

I can send you some older, more confident roosters if needed, sounds like the new guy needs an example? [IMG]

Lol. Mine are the same way. I thought I missed them being all lovey to me when I had my roo. Now I can't wait for one of my lil baby chicks to hurry and grow up and take over the roo vacancy. It's really hard to get anything done outside with chickens following you and squatting in front of you tripping you up. [IMG]

Quote:I tried introducing Betsy aka Dyson to them, after the epic fail introducing TJ. Dyson got his head stuck between the bars of his crate and the hens were sitting there hen pecking the tar outta him. I had to rescue the little booger. [IMG]

JJ is pretty awesome. You should make a trip to SC BooBoo. JJ would be worth it. Plus, it's cooler in SC than it is here.
