I thought he was a BO

    So I have multiple chicks that are 8 weeks old now and I thought a majority of them were BO's but as they got older some of the chicks turned a little darker than the BO's especially around the neck and then grew these black spots all around the neck. Any idea what breed I know its not a good picture but it is all I got.

    Honestly, looking at the size, I'd call that a red broiler.

    I have a couple girls that look close to this too, are they decent egg layers?

    Looks like a Red Broiler to me, or possibly a large Production Red. From what I've heard (I've never actually raised them), Red Broilers have a greater chance of living long and therefore laying eggs than commercial Cornish Cross broilers, but that is not the purpose they were necessarily bred for.
