I thought I was MUCH stronger than all of you buying more chicks than you originally intended to buy...then I went to the feed store yesterday TO PICK UP HORSE FEED...and bought two more chicks - this time two Buff Orpington pullets that they got from Ideal....they even had a note on them to "save for Kelly" as I had told them that Ideal had left them out of my order on Feb 18. How could I not take them home???? They're so cute & the feed store was so nice!
That brings my total chick count to 28 plus the 5 laying pullets I already have (who will remain in their seperate coop/run). Doing my calculations, my hen coop is too small! It is 81 sq ft - big enough for 21 or so. I have enough roosts for 30 hens in there...but HMMMM...what to do....what - to - do?
If they all survive & they are all pullets...I guess we'll be making one more coop
My run is 50'x50' and I let all my chickens free range from about 5:30 until bed time...do you think this run will be big enough for 28 pullets? If not, I'm going to have some 'splainin' to do with my husband!
I'll take some pictures today - I LOVE these fricken' chicknes!
