I get up this morning to feed the flock, and apparently my cat Macho has decided the brooder is the best place to stay toasty warm...

The chicks didn't peep at all, so either they were scared poopless, or are getting used to him stealing their heat... [IMG]

He is the laziest cat! If he catches a mouse, he just plays with it then lets it go... I have to count on my 4 lb dog to do the "deed" [IMG]

LOL! my cats were raised around rats and mice as pets so they knew that they weren't to go after them. BUUUUUT we ended up with a mice infestation after our neighbor cut all the grass down in his field mid winter *why?!* so the mice moved into our house. My cats... would just sit there and look at the mouse like "why aren't you in a cage?" Even when the mice were sitting in the middle of their food bowls they would so NOTHING. *face palm*

This morning I took the top off, so Macho wouldn't lay on it. He GOT IN with the chicks...!!!!! Heard a ruckus, so I went to check it out, and sure enough there's the darn cat curling up in the bottom of the brooder...

Seriously???? Does he know he's a cat????

Which is maybe why he didn't get a spankin' for being in there...! He is a barn cat I rescued from the garage nine years ago... mama must have been young and scared because she delivered him on the welding bench then disappeared. Bottled fed, and pampered apparently! He is sweet for the most part, but 12 lbs of cat in my little brooder didn't set well with the poor peeps... lol
