Ideal Poultry's Black East Indie ducks

Sorry to say, but most, not all, hatchery ducks are not of show quality...hatcheries don't control their breeding, they just have a bunch of ducks in one pen and hatch whatever they get. Your BEI's will probably be the size its supposed to and have some green sheen, but they probably won't have a very shiny green and they might not have a pure black beak and legs....this is okay if you dont plan on showing them, they will make excellent pets!

Here are some pics of my BEI's that came from Ideal last year. I am pretty sure that they are not near show quality. But since I don't raise for show, or to sale it doesn't really matter to me. They really do have a better green sheen to them when they are in the sun but it doesn't show up in the pictures I have here.

If you haven't ordered them yet, I would start local using craigslist or asking on some of the forums. You might be surprised to find someone within driving distance who has some.

I raised them for quite a few years, liked them more than the Calls.
